Northern Territory: Going through a time of great challenges, temporary closure of GSM program

The Australian Government has awarded a reduced number of nominations for the General Skilled Migration (GSM) program for this program fiscal year 2023-24, compared to previous years. In response to this reduced allocation, the Northern Territory has temporarily decided to stop accepting new nomination applications effective August 24, 2023 at 5 p.m. m. 

Applications already submitted through the state’s online portal prior to this time will be evaluated against existing eligibility criteria, and those who meet these criteria will receive nominations. These eligibility criteria will be strictly enforced.

Once the evaluation of existing applications is complete, the program will reopen for subclass 491 nomination applications only, but with more stringent criteria. Details about these new criteria will be communicated on the official website.
