Queensland: Has announced its quota of nominations for this fiscal year 2023-24.
For the Australian fiscal year 2023-24, the Department of Home Affairs has allocated a total of 1,550 expert visa nominations to Queensland, significantly fewer than the number requested. This implies that Queensland nominations will be highly competitive due to limited places. Focus will be on attracting highly-skilled immigrants, and timing is being considered to open the program.
The assigned number of visas by category is as follows:
- Subclass 190: 900 assignments
- Subclass 491: 650 assignments
- Business Investment and Innovation Program (BIIP): 0 assignments
It is important to note that all jurisdictions, including Queensland, have received reduced allocations this year. The Department of the Interior justifies these reduced fees by mentioning that they are using prior nominated visa applications to meet program planning levels.
In addition, it has been announced that there will be no allocation of nominations for the Business Investment and Innovation Program (BIIP) in the year 2023-24 in any jurisdiction. Although BIIP slots will not be allocated, Stage 2 applications will continue to be reviewed and processed as usual. It is suggested that the Global Talent visa, with a 5,000 slot allocation, could be an alternative for certain potential business clients.
