Updates to the Skilled Migration Program in Tasmania
16 February 2022 By RC Migration
In the latest update, the Department highlights that Tasmania has 1,100 Visa 190 (Permanent) slots and 2,200 Visa 491 (Temporary) slots for the fiscal year 2021-2022, of which 60% have already been granted.
The remaining 40% of seats (around 1,320) will be given with priority to candidates who meet any of these requirements:
Candidates with a job related to critical roles (health, allied health, infrastructure, and engineering), and a Skilled Assessment directly in line with that role.
Candidates with Skilled Assessments and skills related to the Tasmanian Skilled Occupations List.
Candidates with employment directly related to the occupation for which you are nominated (e.g. chef occupation, work as a chef)
In addition, the Department announced that the candidate’s employment must be with a well-established Tasmanian company that has been operating in Tasmania for at least 12 months. Employment must be full-time for Tasmanian job categories, but may be part-time (a minimum of 20 hours) for Tasmanian graduates, if that employment has lasted at least 3 months.
