SOUTH AUSTRALIA: Business and Skill Migration Update – 2023-24 Nominations Allocations
The Commonwealth Government has announced a significant and unexpected reduction in visa nomination allocations for the General Skilled Migration (GSM) program in South Australia for the year 2023-2024.
The nomination allocation for this term is 2,300 seats, in stark contrast to the 8,800 seats allocated to the state in the 2022-2023 financial year.
Despite this decline, South Australia will continue to support priority industries with available positions, especially in critical sectors such as Health and Defense, with a focus on attracting skilled immigrants from abroad.
More information on the 2023-24 GSM program is expected to be forthcoming, and applications for the 2022-23 financial year will be finalized in the coming weeks.
In line with other jurisdictions, the Commonwealth Government has not allocated any nomination places for the Business Investment and Innovation Program (BIIP) in 2023-24 for South Australia.
Business immigrants or investors who already hold a provisional visa (subclass 188) will have the possibility to apply for a nomination for visa extension or permanent visa (subclass 888) in 2023-2024, as these are not subject to a cap of places.
